Just would like to stress, one last time, that cool down is very very important. If you have seen Post 1 you probably know what happened to me.
After 3 months of complete rest, I started running 30 mins, slow-pacing several times this 2 week. And the pain just kept coming back. Went to see a specialist yesterday and he said that I not only injuried the ITB, but also the bursa underneath. My ITB is now thickened (esp Rt side so after every run there's pain).
The specialist advised me to keep on having short-distance running and if situation doesn't improve, I will need ultrasound-guided steriod injection. If it doesn't wotk too, some minor surgery to release the pressure maybe on the way.
So pls pls pls DO COOL DOWN after work-out, esp after LSD. If you don't have time cut down the distance of every session so you will have some extra minutes for enough stretching.
Bursitis?!? Sorry to hear about that, no fun at all. Two ways to fix it ~ either steroid shots or surgery. But you shouldn't be running now because it might cause more inflammation and pain.

My best hope for now is the steriod shots will help. 15 years ago I already had several steriod shots on the ankles and it is the least thing I would like to be linked to again. But it's definitely better than surgery.......
While everyone is preparing for the 2010 Marathon, I am still figuring out what's going on, holy crap..........
